Curated by Gilles Daigneault, Ces artistes qui impriment — Un regard sur l’estampe au Québec depuis 1980 provided an overview of printmaking in Quebec, presenting examples of the work of 88 artists. The public discovered nearly 200 works from private collections and the print collection of Bibliothèque et Archives du Québec (BAnQ), tracing the technical evolution of this art form. The exhibition was presented in the main exhibition room of the Grande Bibliothèque and in the Gilles-Hocquart Hall of the Centre d’archives de Montréal. It was the largest exhibition ever organized by BAnQ.
The scenography developed by Diane Bernier Design (DBD) succeeded in unifying the artists’ works while respecting their individual personalities, notably through creating the engravers’ wheel and using vertical bands made of a material reminiscent of paper and backlit. Art critics praised this staging in the media. Using the floor and backlit cubes made it possible to present the textual content---quotations and introductory texts---without detracting from the ensemble of works put together for the occasion.
