Ayant pour mission de mettre en valeur les identités montréalaises, le MEM — Centre des mémoires montréalaises a reçu le mandat de la Ville de Montréal et du ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Inclusion, de concevoir une exposition extérieure dans le Quartier chinois qui a témoigné de la diversité de la communauté, de son histoire et de sa résilience face aux discriminations et aux défis passés et actuels.
Relevant le défi de créer en un temps restreint, un aménagement qui répond aux exigences des mesures de distanciation propres à la période de la pandémie, Diane Bernier Design (DBD) a proposé un parcours extérieur et une adaptation thématique et formelle des structures recyclées offertes par le Bureau d’intégration des nouveaux arrivants à Montréal (BINAM).

With a mission to highlight Montreal’s identities, the MEM — Centre des mémoires montréalaises was commissioned by the City of Montreal and the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Inclusion to design an outdoor exhibition in Chinatown that would reflected the community’s diversity, history and resilience in the face of past and present discrimination and challenges.
Diane Bernier Design (DBD) rose to the challenge of creating, in a short space of time, a layout that would meet the requirements of the distancing measures specific to the period of the pandemic, proposing an outdoor route and a thematic and formal adaptation of the recycled structures offered by the Bureau d’intégration des nouveaux arrivants à Montréal (BINAM).
