Dr. Maude Abbott helped build the reputation of the Medical Museum of McGill University, making it a first-rate educational tool thanks to her organizational and filing skills. The collection, rediscovered and redeployed through the initiative of Dr Richard Fraser, is now presented in a museum space that echoes the one created by Maude Abbott in 1898.
In collaboration with the museum team, conservation objectives led Diane Bernier Design (DBD) to develop design solutions for displaying pathological specimens and anatomical models, some of which are nearly 200 years old. The transparent layout and furniture allow access to these items for study and teaching, with the aim of informing clinical practice. Over 270 documented objects, accompanied by historical content presented in part through the use of electronic tablets placed along the route, are on display.
