The exhibition Notre montagne. Mémoires du mont Royal focuses on the history of this emblematic place that Montrealers affectionately call “the mountain.” Created to mark the bicentenary of the birth of the designer of Mount Royal Park, the American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the exhibition focuses on the major issues that have marked the development and preservation of the mountain.
In collaboration with the Service de cartographie de la Ville de Montréal, Diane Bernier Design (DBD) developed an initial staging of a neutral, three-dimensional model of the mountain’s shape that reflects the presence of the first occupants. The journey then comes to life with the developments of colonization and occupation of the territory before ending with a current view, this time encircled by concerns for its conservation.
