The Esplanade Tranquille in the Quartier des spectacles pays homage to Henri Tranquille and his bookshop, which was located there from 1937 to 1975. As part of its inauguration, Diane Bernier Design (DBD) curated an exhibition adjacent to and inside a container converted into a self-service library. DBD created it to explain the origin of the esplanade’s name, the history of the bookshop and its artistic and literary influence, linked to the personality of its owner, Henri Tranquille.

The self-guided tour consists of five thematic panels on the promenade and capsule panels on the shelves of the self-service library. The panels are presented in the Grand Salon of the Esplanade Tranquille during the winter.
