Inaugurated in 1955, the Stewart Museum celebrated its fiftieth anniversary by presenting 50 artifacts, all selected by the philanthropist David Macdonald Stewart for their rarity, uniqueness, prestige, or simplicity, through an extraordinary museum experience. The treasures were grouped into five thematic families: trade, war and peace, fashion and leisure, travel and exploration, decorative arts and fine arts.
The exhibition was designed by the Stewart Museum’s Diane Bernier Design (DBD), which oversaw the redevelopment of the spaces down to the details of the presentation of the collection’s objects.
