Alter Ego

ALTER EGO explores Canadian cultural duality through comics. Diane Bernier Design created a demountable, transportable exhibition for Library and Archives Canada, featuring an open-book concept with 3D murals.

ALTER EGO: Comics and the Canadian Identity
Temporary and travelling exhibition, 2016
Library and Archives Canada, Ottawa

ALTER EGO explores the cultural duality of Canadian identity through comics. Exploring the archetype of the superhero and his double life, the exhibition is divided into three themes: collective identity, secret identity and personal identity.

Diane Bernier Design (DBD) developed a concept for Library and Archives Canada (LAC) that takes the form of an open book. Demountable and transportable, it exploits both the height and the floor and adjacent walls of the Sunken Lobby located in the LAC building, notably thanks to murals made of three-dimensional cut-outs.
